Brasil E a Idiossincrasia Da Miscigenação
The population genetics of quechuas, the largest native south american group
Elucidating the pattern of genetic diversity for non‐European populations is necessary to make the benefits of human genetics research available to individuals from these groups. In the era of large human genomic initiatives, Native American populations have been neglected, in particular, the Quechua, the largest South Amerindian group settled along the Andes. We characterized the genetic diversity of a Quechua population in a global setting, usi…
Allele distribution of six STR/miniSTR loci (CD4, Fabp2, D12S391, D14S1434, D22S1045 and D10S1248) for forensic purposes in Southeastern Brazil
Due to their ease of analysis and high informativity, these new STR multiplexes will be useful for extending current marker sets for forensic and paternity purposes
Brief communication
We report the estimated allele frequencies for 13 and 14 microsatellite loci in two populations of Minas Gerais, Brazil as follows: Belo Horizonte (the capital) and Marinhos (an African‐derived community). Analysis of the African, Amerindian, and European genetic contributions to both populations, together with historical information, revealed distinct differences between the two populations. Estimates for Belo Horizonte revealed a higher‐Europea…
