A Horizontal Mesiodens in a Child Buried at Hank’s Site (41RB109), a Prehistoric Plains Village Site in the Texas Panhandle
The mesiodens is the most common kindof supernumerary tooth; it is found in the midline ofthe maxilla. Horizontal orientation is the least common,accounting for about 6% of cases. During osteologicalanalysis of the skeleton of a 3 to 5 year old child recoveredfrom Hank’s site (41RB109) in the northern Texaspanhandle, an impacted horizontal, conical mesiodenswas identified. National Register Testing at 41BQ285, Bosque County, Texas
Prewitt and Associates, Inc., conducted archeological test excavations at 41BQ285 in June 2006 for the Texas Department of Transportation under Texas Antiquities Permit No. 4102. Site 41BQ285, in southeastern Bosque County, was located during an archeological survey for the proposed replacement of the FM 56 bridge over the North Bosque River. Five Corner Tang Bifaces from the Silo Site, 41KA102, a Late Archaic Mortuary Site in South Texas
Five corner tang bi/aces were recovered as grave inclusions with two burials, a young adult male and a child, at the Silo site (41KA102), a Late-Transitional Archaic mortuary and habitation locale in the northern portion of south Texas. Analysis of these corner tangs suggests their specific manufacture as grave goods. The association of grave goods with individuals of varying age and sex categories has led to a general assumption of relatively eg…
