  • Composition of Local Confections Commonly Consumed in the Arabian Gulf

    An evaluation of seven confectionery items commonly consumed in the Arabian Gulf region is presented with regard to their nutritional profiles. The foods contained 1.1–17.3% (N × 6.25) protein, 41.8–81.2% carbohydrate and 6.3–38.8% w/w fat.     The aim of this study was to determine the proximate, mineral, and vitamin content of 16 commonly consumed fast foods (local and Western-based) in Bahrain.   • Nutritional Profile of Ready-to-Eat Foods Consumed in Bahrain

    Nine different types of ready-to-eat foods were purchased from food outlets in Bahrain and analyzed for their proximate, mineral, and sterol compositions as well as their fatty acid profile.
