The Hasinais were one of three Caddoan chiefdoms in eastern Texas during Spain’s early colonial era (1680-1785). By the 1780s, the Hasinai chiefdom had collapsed. Epidemics, the introduction of mercantile economies, and shifts in trade routes are often cited as the reasons for the dissolution of the chiefdom.
