  • Pondering Mohammed Abed Al-Jabri’s Project of an ‘Arab Reason’

    Open Access•Luis Xavier López-Farjeat•ARTICLE•Religions•2026•References: 19

Mohammed Abed Al-Jabri (d. 2010) is one of the most important and stimulating contemporary Arabic philosophers. He is well-known for his project Critique of Arab Reason (Naqd al-ʿaql al-ʿArabī), in which he deconstructs the Arabic philosophical and cultural tradition, revitalizing the rationalist legacy of the classical period, mainly, the philosophical ideas of Ibn Rushd (Averroes). According to Al-Jabri, the renewal of Arab thought requires a n…

  • Group Asylum, Sovereignty, and the Ethics of Care

    Open Access•Luis Xavier López-Farjeat, Cecilia Coronado-Angulo•ARTICLE•Social Sciences•2020•Cited by: 1•References: 29

It is assumed that the states have the right to control their borders and decide whom they want to exclude, isolate, ban, or impose restrictions on. Although it seems that the problematic notion of "sovereignty" gives the state the right to make these kinds of decisions, there are situations where ethical duties to other human beings supersede sovereignty and where, in fact, those ethical duties limit sovereignty. This would be the case of group …

    Open Access•Luis Xavier López-Farjeat•ARTICLE•Ideas y Valores•2019•References: 12

  • Pluralidad religiosa, tolerancia y no violencia en Said Nursi y Fethullah Gülen

Open Access•Luis Xavier López-Farjeat, Luis Xavier López Farjeat•ARTICLE•Andamios•2019

    Open Access•Luis Xavier López-Farjeat•ARTICLE•Al-Qanṭara•2017

  • The Routledge Companion to Islamic Philosophy

Richard Taylor, Richard C Taylor et al.•BOOK•Routledge Companion to Islamic…•2015

Recent publications focused on Arabic/Islamic philosophy have traditionally considered this under the history of ideas and Oriental or Islamic studies. There is a need for a comprehensive collection of essays that treats Islamic philosophy as philosophy, and not merely as a conduit of intellectual history for delivering ideas from the ancient Greeks to medieval Christians. With this aim, The Routledge Companion to Islamic Philosophy is conceived …

  • Razones y argumentos

Open Access•Luis Xavier López-Farjeat, Luis Xavier López Farjeat•ARTICLE•Veritas (Porto Alegre)•2007
