  • Predictive AI and Productivity Growth Dynamics

Open Access•Luca Fontanelli, Mattia Guerini et al.•ARTICLE•SSRN Electronic Journal•2025

While artificial intelligence (AI) adoption holds the potential to enhance business operations through improved forecasting and automation, its relation with average productivity growth remain highly heterogeneous across firms. This paper shifts the focus and investigates the impact of predictive artificial intelligence (AI) on the volatility of firms' productivity growth rates. Using firm-level data from the 2019 French ICT survey, we provide ro…

  • Financial constraints and firm exports

Angelo Secchi, Federico Tamagni et al.•ARTICLE•Industrial and Corporate Change•2016

The article examines the causal effect of financial constraints on firms’ exports. We exploit a firm-level proxy of constraints based on credit ratings and available for a large panel of Italian exporting and non-exporting firms. Our estimation strategy allows to cure for self-selection into exports and endogeneity of financial constraints. At the same time, we can control for unobserved firm fixed effects both in the selection and in the export …

  • Export price adjustments under financial constraints

Open Access•Angelo Secchi, Federico Tamagni et al.•ARTICLE•Canadian Journal of Economics/Revue…•2016

Exploiting data on the product‐destination‐level transactions of a large panel of Italian firms, we provide evidence that financial constraints affect price variation across exporters. Constrained exporters charge higher prices than do unconstrained firms that export to the same product‐destination market. This pattern is the result of a two‐fold effect. Distressed firms pass on their higher production costs through prices. However, they also cha…

  • Modeling industrial evolution in geographical space

Giulio Bottazzi, Giovanni Dosi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Economic Geography•2007•Cited by: 8•References: 2

In this article we study a class of evolutionary models of industrial agglomeration with local positive feedbacks, which allow for a wide set of empirically testable implications. Their roots rest in the Generalized Polya Urn framework. Here, however, we build on a birth-death process over a finite number of locations and a finite population of firms. The process of selection among production sites that are heterogeneous in their ‘intrinsic attra…
