  • Bayesian archaeoseismic chronology of the Stratonikeia Frigidarium from construction to seismic collapse

Open Access•Eren Şahiner, Tamer Koralay et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological and Anthropological…•2026

  • Crust occurrence on a Galatian rock‐cut dwelling in central Anatolia, Turkey

Open Access•Nizamettin Kazancı, Aysen Özgüneylioğlu et al.•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2022•References: 3

Mahkemağcin Underground City (MUC) is a four‐floored rock‐cut dwelling complex carved into ignimbrite tuffs of the Early‐Middle Miocene age in central Anatolia. The whole interior of the complex is covered by a 1–5 cm thick alteration crust that is not detected in any cave or outcrop in the region. This crust is investigated using microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction and X‐ray fluorescence analyses, and the results are disc…

  • Late-Holocene landscape evolution of a delta from foredune ridges

    Open Access•Emrah Özpolat, Eren Şahiner et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2021•References: 4

The Çukurova Delta Complex, formed by the Seyhan, Ceyhan, and Berdan rivers, is the second-largest delta system in the Mediterranean. The delta complex is a major depocenter that contains sediments transported from the Taurus Mountain belt since the Miocene. Studies on the Quaternary landscape evolution of the Çukurova Delta Complex are scarce, and in particular, the Holocene evolution of the Seyhan Delta section of the Çukurova Delta Complex has…

  • Fluvial response to rising levels of the Black Sea and to climate changes during the Holocene

    Open Access•Mehmet Korhan Erturaç, Eren Şahiner et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2019•Cited by: 2•References: 13

The Sakarya River is among the largest fluvial systems of the southern Black Sea basin, draining most of NW Anatolia. The river crosses the high relief of the Pontide mountain range through successive narrow gorges and strike-slip basins formed by the North Anatolian Fault (NAF) System. We have investigated this fluvial record along the course of the main river channel at its lower reaches. The study site is located south of the Adapazarı Basin, …

  • Palaeolithic occupation of the Anatolian High Plateau during a cold period

Open Access•Faruk Ocakoğlu, Berkay Dinçer et al.•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2018•Cited by: 2•References: 5

In the Avlamış Valley, 10 km north of Eskişehir (NW Anatolia), an undamaged triangular Levallois flake was encountered in a paleosol, 430 cm beneath the ground surface. The artifact has a minimal dorsal retouch on the right margin, and there is a light beige partial patina on the ventral surface. Based on the technological investigations, this artifact was made using the centripetal recurrent Levallois technique. An observation of the trench wall…
