  • High-resolution forest and fire dynamics from Fish Lake, New Brunswick, Canada, during the last millennium

    Open Access•Ryan Collins, Ryan J Collins et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2026•Referencias: 57

The Acadian Forest is a mixed-wood forest covering the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Picea rubens (red spruce) is its signature species which has been prominent for circa 2000 years. We extracted a 124 cm surface core from Fish Lake, (46° 8′ 38.32′′N, 66° 53′ 12.64′′ W), near Fredericton, New Brunswick. A rplum age-depth model, based upon 4 14 C and 15 210 Pb dates, showed that the core bottom dates to AD 890. We performed …

  • Reconstructed high-resolution forest dynamics and human impacts of the past 2300 years of the Parc national de Mont-Orford , southeastern Québec, Canada

    Open Access•Claire E O'Neill Sanger, Claire E O’Neill Sanger et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2021•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 9

We used a high-resolution lacustrine pollen record from Étang Fer-de-Lance (45°21′21.9′N, 72°13′35.3′W), southeastern Québec, Canada, together with microcharcoal, to infer forest dynamics and human impacts over the past 2300 years. The lake is located in the eastern sugar maple-basswood forest domain of the Northern Temperate Forest of eastern North America. We found that the pollen percentages and influxes of Fagus grandifolia (American beech) a…
