  • Tourists’ willingness to pay for pro-poor tourism income distribution

    Open Access•Qin Pang, Hongrun Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Tourism Management•2025•References: 62

  • Are Chinese willing to pay for travel carbon offset products

Open Access•Hongrun Wu, Hanyuan Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Sustainable Tourism•2025•Cited by: 2•References: 79

This study explored tourists' preferences and willingness to pay for travel carbon offset (TCO) products using a hybrid choice model (HCM). This model integrates a mixed multinomial logit model (MMNL) and a latent variable model (LVM) to facilitate the exploration of preference heterogeneity among tourists by incorporating individual psychological constructs. The key empirical results were as follows: (1) the respondents were more likely to purch…

  • Sustainable tourism paradigms across cultures

Qin Pang, Hongrun Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Sustainable Tourism•2025•Cited by: 2•References: 129

This special issue explores the cultural diversities in conceptualising and practising sustainable tourism in emerging destination societies. By examining both Western and Eastern paradigms through ontological, epistemological, and methodological lenses, this collection seeks to broaden the discourse on sustainable tourism. While Western frameworks have significantly shaped the field, an Eastern perspective—rooted in Confucianism and Taoism—offer…

  • Agent-Network-Computation-Based Evolutionary Game Model in Language Competition

Open Access•Hongrun Wu, Qiurong Wu et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2024

As language is intrinsic to the expression of culture, the rise and fall of a language directly affect the culture associated with it. Therefore, constructing a computational model to study the mechanisms of language competition and explore policies of language preservation is very important. We address the language system’s macroscopic aspects, such as the prestige of languages, the difficulty level of learning languages, and natives’ tolerance …

  • The impact of international air routes on tourism

Open Access•Jiechen Tang, Hongrun Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Tourism Research•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 62

We analysed the impact of the number of air routes on international tourism arrivals, using a dynamic panel data model to control for endogeneity. The analysis considers China's tourist arrivals before COVID-19, from its seventeen main source countries. The results show a significant positive effect of international air routes on arrivals. Beyond the overall effect, we differentiate long-haul and short-haul routes, and incorporate potential non-l…

  • The role of weather conditions on tourists’ decision-making process

Jiechen Tang, Hongrun Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Current Issues in Tourism•2021

This paper explores the role of weather conditions on tourists’ decision-making. For this purpose, it develops a theoretical framework that integrates how individual decisions are made at the micro level into a dynamic macro-level model with three decision stages: before booking, before departure, and during the trip. The model is empirically tested applying chi-square analysis, logistic regression and multiple correspondence analysis on a sample…
