    Open Access•Nicola Böhlke, Benjamin Zander et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sociology•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 6

Discussing these results in the context of previous literature, we argue that it is important to address sexuality in a subject-specific approach and take the discursive knowledge and fundamental schemes of interpretation into account that shape the (im-)possibilities of addressing sexuality in PE

Previous research indicates that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer plus (LGBTQ+) students feel marginalised and discriminated against in physical education (PE) and that teachers play a crucial role in establishing openness towards sexual and gender diversity in schools. Despite these findings, there is a lack of research that focuses on the topic of sexual and gender diversity in PE from the perspective of PE teachers. The paper address…

There is little empirical research on the sport experiences of gay and lesbian recreational athletes in Germany and their existence and needs within organized, non-professional sports have largely been ignored. Based on twelve in-depth interviews with self-identified male gay and female lesbian adults, this paper explores how queer recreational athletes experience sport in German sports clubs and which particular challenges or discriminatory situ…
