The Mark of the Beast: A bone assemblage assessment from the North of the Iberian Peninsula (MIS 3)
The cave of Abauntz (Navarra, Spain) has had a consistent record of human presence since 50,000 years ago. In this paper, we present the results of the taphonomy and taxonomy analyses made on an assemblage composed of over 3,000 bones found in the unit h of the cave of Abauntz, the earliest level in the cave's stratigraphy with human presence and dated in the MIS 3. Taxonomy assessment described 14 mammal taxa, identified 2,426 remains, and quant…
Dendro-anthracological tools applied to Scots type pine forests exploitation as fuel during the Mesolithic-Neolithic transition in the southern central pre-Pyrenees (Spain)
Characterization of the use-wear and residues resulting from limestone working. Experimental approach to the parietal art of La Viña rock shelter (La Manzaneda, Asturias, Spain)
Filling new territories with Palaeolithic rock art. Cueva Hermosa (Calcena, Zaragoza, Spain)
New data concerning Neanderthal occupation in the Iberian System: First results from the late Pleistocene (MIS 3) Aguilón P5 cave site (NE Iberia)
Call it home: Mesolithic dwellings in the Ebro Basin (NE Spain)
Stable isotope ratio analysis of bone collagen as indicator of different dietary habits and environmental conditions in northeastern Iberia during the 4th and 3rd millennium cal B.C
The Late Neolithic and Chalcolithic periods are poorly understood in northeastern Iberia. Most of the information comes from the sepulchral structures rather than habitat settlements. The high number of individuals usually recovered from this types of collective burial spaces, together with the low number of direct radiocarbon dates available on them, forces us to be cautious and consider all the studied assemblages as belonging to the so-called …
Fuel and acorns: Early Neolithic plant use from Cueva de Chaves (NE Spain)
Applying ED-XRF and LA-ICP-MS to geochemically characterize chert. The case of the Central-Eastern Pre-Pyrenean lacustrine cherts and their presence in the Magdalenian of NE Iberia
Experimental study of the aerophone of Isturitz: Manufacture, use-wear analysis and acoustic tests
Fifty thousand years of prehistory at the cave of Abauntz (Arraitz, Navarre): A nexus point between the Ebro Valley, Aquitaine and the Cantabrian Corridor
Hunting camps and nucleiform endscrapers in the Cantabrian Lower Magdalenian: A lithic microwear analysis
The Ebro Basin in NE Spain: A crossroads during the Magdalenian
Patterns of human occupation during the early Holocene in the Central Ebro Basin (NE Spain) in response to the 8.2 ka climatic event
The Central Ebro River Basin (NE Spain) is the most northern area of truly semi-arid Mediterranean climate in Europe and prehistoric human occupation there has been strongly influenced by this extreme environmental condition. Modern climate conditions single out this region due to the harsh environment, characterised by the highest absolute summer temperatures of the Ebro River Basin. The Bajo Aragón region (SE Ebro River Basin) was intensively p…
A palaeolithic map from 13,660 calBP: Engraved stone blocks from the Late Magdalenian in Abauntz Cave (Navarra, Spain)
