  • Finding the protohistoric

    Greg Pierce, Damian R Kirkwood et al.•ARTICLE•Plains Anthropologist•2019•Citada por: 2•Referências: 33

This paper discusses the utility of using bone modification analysis as a means of differentiating between pre- and post-contact sites, or strata within a site, and how these data can be used to track and understand the implications of the introduction of new technologies on indigenous systems. The authors examined a sample of bison elements from the Vore site, 48CK302, in Wyoming for the purpose of identifying different modifications on each bon…

  • The Donovan Site (5LO204)

    Laura L Scheiber, Charles A Reher•ARTICLE•Plains Anthropologist•2007•Citada por: 5•Referências: 26

The Donovan site (5LO204) is a Late Prehistoric animal processing campsite located in northeastern Colorado. The site has been extensively excavated by the University of Wyoming High Plains Archaeology Project since 1992. Containing at least 11 stratified occupation surfaces dating between about A.D. 1000 and 1300, Donovan represents a frequently visited western expansion of the Upper Republican phase of the Central Plains tradition. Material cul…

  • Diversity, Organization, and Behavior in the Material Record

Michael Shott, Sandra Bowdler et al.•ARTICLE•Current Anthropology•1989•Citada por: 37

  • Analysis of Spatial Structure in Stone Circle Sites

    Charles A Reher•ARTICLE•Plains Anthropologist•1983•Citada por: 7

This paper calls for a more comprehensive and more generalized approach to the study of site structure in stone circle sites. It is argued that although much more detailed empirical investigation of site structure is quite feasible at this time, with few exceptions comprehensive treatments are not being attempted. It is also argued that such an empirical treatment must be coupled with an expanded consideration of general theoretical principles if…

    Charles A Reher, George C Frison•ARTICLE•Plains Anthropologist•1980•Citada por: 11

"The Vore Site, 48Ck302, A Stratified Buffalo Jump In The Wyoming Black Hills." Plains Anthropologist, 25(88), p. i

  • Buffalo Population and Other Deterministic Factors in A Model of Adaptive Process On the Shortgrass Plains

    Charles A Reher•ARTICLE•Plains Anthropologist•1978•Citada por: 4

  • Appendix I

    George C Frison, Charles A Reher•ARTICLE•Plains Anthropologist•1970•Citada por: 10

In order to test the hypothesis that buffalo jumping was limited to a certain time of the year the age of the animals at time of death had to be determined. This was done by means of lower tooth eruption and wear from a sample of 251 complete or fragmentary mandibles from which aging data could be obtained. The method of tooth sectioning to determine layers of cemen tum was not attempted. If the jumping period was limited to the fall of the year …
