    Open Access•Anna Pilková, Jan Řehák•ARTICLE•Society and Economy•2017•References: 3

The paper studies the relationship between key factors influencing senior entrepreneurship and the level of inclusiveness of seniors in entrepreneurial activity in Europe. The objective is to cluster countries with similar patterns in senior entrepreneurial inclusivity and to identify the factors leading to inclusive entrepreneurship of seniors and their social cohesion. • Quality of Data I. Classical Model of Measuring Reliability and its Practical Application

    Open Access•Jan Řehák•ARTICLE•Czech Sociological Review•1998•References: 2

The paper is a subject review, the purpose of which is to revitalise the concept of reliability for the sociological research. Reliability is defined by classical definition and the properties of this concept are discussed in the paper. The consequences of estimating variability and correlation are presented and the estimation formulas are given. The practical methods for estimation are also described. The paper aims at practical researchers in o…

  • Quality of Data III. Empirical Results of Reliability Measurement for Selected Variables and Scalesv

    Open Access•Jan Řehák, Irena Bártová et al.•ARTICLE•Czech Sociological Review•1998•Cited by: 1•References: 1

The 'test-retest' study for assessing reliability has been carried out for various question formats and scale lengths as well as for various substantive topics. The results selected and displayed in the paper are relevant for sociological surveys. The selection of particular items here has been motivated both by our attempt to help relevant substantive projects that have been regularly carried out, as well as by continual discussions about the li…

  • Quality of Data II. Approaches to the Evaluation of Research Instruments based on Covariance Structure Modelling

    Open Access•Jan Řehák•ARTICLE•Czech Sociological Review•1998•Cited by: 3•References: 5

The aim of the paper is to review three ways of modelling data quality using the covariance structure methodology, covering relations among both the latent and manifest variables -the former being the true values, while the latter are the measured data in our models. Two components of quality are presented in the models: validity and reliability, and effects of operationalisation and method effects

  • Mighty Sifts

David Strau, David Strauss et al.•ARTICLE•Current Anthropology•1975•Cited by: 21

Galton's problem arises from historical connection between societies, which makes the canon of statistical independence inapplicable. The resulting indeterminacy of sample size renders standard tests of statistical significance also inapplicable. In addition, replication might bias results. Seven solutions to Galton's problem have been previously offered, and we have found all of them invalid. Three of them suffer from what we have termed the "sy…
