The Burden of Disease of Treatment‐Seeking Patients With a Cluster‐C Personality Disorder in the Netherlands; Quality of Life, Functioning, and Societal Costs
Cluster‐C personality disorders (PDs) are common in the general population but often overlooked in scientific research and clinical practice. An important step to increase awareness for timely diagnosis and treatment of cluster‐C PDs is to investigate the burden of disease in terms of quality of life (QoL), daily functioning and the associated costs to society. Associations Between Facets of Pathological Personality Traits and Alexithymia
The current study examined (1) whether underlying facets of Detachment and Negative Affect are associated with the different components of alexithymia, and (2) whether these associations depend on the level of perceived stress. In total, 635 students (M age = 20.02, 87.5% female) filled out online questionnaires on alexithymia (Toronto Alexithymia Scale), pathological personality traits (Personality Inventory for DSM‐V), and perceived stress (Per…

The role of enmeshment and undeveloped self, subjugation and self-sacrifice in childhood trauma and attachment related problems
Based on the results, we can conclude that childhood trauma is related to insecure attachment styles and to self-concept clarity, and that this relation is mediated by all three EMS
Timing of imagery rescripting during schema therapy for borderline personality disorder
This study will increase the knowledge on whether trauma treatment early in therapy positively affects the course of BPD manifestations during ST. When the early application of ImRs leads to a faster decrease in BPD manifestations, the treatment of BPD patients might be shortened, leading to improved treatment outcomes and decreased healthcare expenses. Moreover, the planned sub-studies will expand our knowledge of how ST works and the factors th…
Schema therapy for Dissociative Identity Disorder
Treatment for Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) often follows a practice-based psychodynamic psychotherapy approach that is conducted in three phases: symptom stabilization, trauma processing, and identity integration and rehabilitation. The percentage of patients that reach the third phase is relatively low, treatment duration is long, and the effects of this treatment on the core DID symptoms have been found to be small or absent, leaving ro…
