Use of vitamin D supplements during infancy in an international feeding trial
Objective To examine the use of vitamin D supplements during infancy among the participants in an international infant feeding trial. Design Longitudinal study. Setting Information about vitamin D supplementation was collected through a validated FFQ at the age of 2 weeks and monthly between the ages of 1 month and 6 months. Subjects Infants ( n 2159) with a biological family member affected by type 1 diabetes and with increased human leucocyte a…
Rapid effects of neonatal music therapy combined with kangaroo care on prematurely-born infants
The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of music therapy (MT) combined with kangaroo care as dual treatment (DT) on the physiological responses of preterm infants compared with the influence of kangaroo care (KC) only. The infants' heart rate, respiration, transcutaneous O2 saturation and blood pressure were measured before, during, and after every therapy session. Sixty-one preterm infants born at a 24 to 36 week gestational age (…
A Transactional Model of Temperamental Development: Evidence of a Relationship between Child Temperament and Maternal Stress over Five Years
Although there is growing consensus that parental stress is a risk factor in child development, longitudinal studies of its effects are few. This study tested a sample of 231 mother–child dyads in terms of whether the relations between the global experience of stress in mothers (perceived stress scale) and child temperamental characteristics (infant behavior questionnaire and child behavior questionnaire) could be conceptualized through transacti…
Insecure adult attachment style and depressive symptoms: Implications for parental perceptions of infant temperament
The current study tested associations between parental depressive symptoms, adult attachment styles, and perceptions of infant temperament among 319 mother–infant and 173 father–infant dyads. Depressive symptoms and insecure attachment style among the mothers and/or fathers were associated with perceptions of the infant as temperamentally more negatively and/or less positively tuned. Multivariate analyses of depressive symptoms and attachment sty…
