Sibling bullying reported by emerging adults
Prevalence estimates of sibling bullying indicate it occurs more frequently and with more negative consequences than peer bullying, yet many countries do not track or investigate the phenomenon. University students from Argentina, Estonia, and the United States were surveyed to investigate their retrospective experiences involving sibling bullying, how often it occurred, the roles held, and the forms communicated. Bullying in university between peers and by personnel
This study reports results from cross-cultural comparisons of (a) the frequency of university students’ experiences of bullying victimization and perpetration between students, (b) students’ experiences of bullying victimization by university personnel, and (c) the breakdown of victimization by the forms of bullying students have experienced. Gender breakdowns are offered. Survey data were collected from undergraduates in a total of 47 universiti…

The Influence of Conformity Orientation on Communication Patterns in Family Conversations
Two studies investigated the role of conformity orientation in family communication. Conversations of 31 families (Study 1) and 50 families (Study 2) were analyzed employing Stiles (1992) Verbal Response Mode coding scheme to test 5 hypotheses regarding the influence of conformity orientation on the frequency of specific speech acts. Analysis of 12,520 (Study 1) and 17,724 (Study 2) speech acts showed statistically significant differences in the …
