  • Mining corridors as emergence interfaces

Open Access•Bocar Sow, Bacary Djilocalisse Sadio et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Artisanal and small-scale gold mining has rapidly reshaped southeastern Senegal's Kédougou region from a sparsely populated savanna-forest landscape into a highly connected frontier marked by land-use change, intense population mobility, and fragile basic services. Over the past decade, this corridor has recorded clustered outbreaks and warning signals involving mosquito-borne, tick-borne, and water-associated infections, including sylvatic dengu…

  • Public Perceptions of Violent Extremism and the Prevention of Violent Extremism in Mauritania and Burkina Faso

Open Access•Joel Busher, Elly Harrowell et al.•ARTICLE•Terrorism and Political Violence•2026

Open Access•Cyril Caminade, Jacques André Ndione et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2014

We investigated rainfall and vegetation conditions that might have impacted on RVF transmission over the affected regions. Our results corroborate that RVF transmission generally occurs during the months of September and October in Mauritania, similarly to Senegal. The four outbreaks were preced…
