  • Developing Strategic and Collaborative Community–Academic Partnerships to Improve Community Health, From Moving Upstream to Getting at the Root

Yvonne C Anderson, Yvonne Anderson et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2025•References: 17

Community partners have experienced inequity and lack of transparency in funding practices. Funding for community partners is a critical component of community-engaged research, as it influences community trust and opportunities. We compared contextual and site-specific factors at 2 centers (in New York City; Los Angeles and Orange Counties, CA) with different community-funding approaches, which influence institutional capacity to partner with an…

  • Achieving a Representative Sample of Asian Americans in Biomedical Research Through Community-Based Approaches

  • Community-based care for autistic youth

Open Access•Amy Drahota, Aksheya Sridhar et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2023

Findings reflect the complexity and inconsistency of the service landscape for autistic youth across the U.S. Only by understanding the service landscape and predictors of practice utilization, can researchers, policymakers, provider groups, and the autistic community facilitate effective implementation strategy development and use to ultimately improve community-based care

  • Innovation in Large-Scale Research Programs

    Open Access•Alecia M Fair, Alecia Fair et al.•ARTICLE•Academic Medicine•2022

PROBLEM: Despite the successes of community-engaged research in advancing research relevance and health equity for diverse communities, the impact of this research has been limited to local and regional programs. Engaging diverse community voices in large-scale, national research programs represents a paradigm shift in biomedical research. Still, disconnects remain between research decision makers and the communities they serve, impeding richer, …

  • Adapting a conceptual framework to engage diverse stakeholders in genomic/precision medicine research

    Open Access•Karriem S Watson, Elizabeth Cohn et al.•ARTICLE•Health Expectations•2022

INTRODUCTION: Genomic/precision medicine offers a remarkable opportunity to improve health and address health disparities. Genomic medicine is the study of genes and their interaction with health. Precision medicine is an approach to disease prevention and treatment that considers individual variability in genes, environment and lifestyle. Conclusions from studies lacking diversity may hinder generalizability as genomic variation occurs within an…

  • Usual care for youth with autism spectrum disorder

    Open Access•Matthew D Lerner, Cynthia E Brown et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

This is the first study to identify transdisciplinary, interpretable sets of practices for treating youth with ASD based on community providers' reported familiarity. Results highlight factors associated with familiarity with practice sets, which is essential for mapping practice availability, and optimizing training and dissemination efforts for youth with ASD

  • Self-reported race and ethnicity of US biobank participants compared to the US Census

Open Access•Elizabeth Cohn, Elizabeth Gross Cohn et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Community Genetics•2017

  • Nurses on the move

Yolanda Ogbolu, Jodi L Ford et al.•ARTICLE•Ethnicity and Health•2017•References: 3

The RWJF Nurse Faculty Scholars were able to leverage their awards to address SDH; however, further research is needed to assess the impact of the SDH work conducted. Knowledge from this study can be used as a road map for SDH elements and areas of professional work that nurses and other health professionals could address SDH in research, teaching, service, and practice
