Normare il sex work? Tra subalternità e ipocrisia
This article examines the contemporary debate on sex work, questioning whether prostitution should be recognized as labor or deemed intrinsically degrading to human dignity. Legally, two contrasting models prevail: abolitionism, which criminalizes clients and exploiters (Sweden, France, Italy), and regulation, which grants sex workers full labor rights (the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium). Grassroots perspectives mirror this divide: active sex wor…
Goodbye Hegel! Overcoming “Geschichtsteleologie” in German Critical Theory
The paper takes up Amy Allen’s challenge to contemporary German critical theory from the perspective of post- and de-colonial studies, focusing on the role played by Hegel’s legacy. More precisely, it takes up the neo-Hegelian method of normative reconstruction adopted by Axel Honneth and, in some respects, by Habermas. This perspective led Honneth to adopt a teleology of history, in the strict sense of a Geschichtsteleologie, although certainly …
Immanent Critique of Capitalism as a Form of Life: On Rahel Jaeggi’s Critical Theory
An immanent critique of capitalism as a form of life: this is one of the crucial points of the new critical theory proposed by Rahel Jaeggi, and it is to this conceptual point, which includes vario
The Political Deficit of Immanent Critique. On Jaeggi's Objections to Walzer's Criticism
The paper aims to show that Rahel Jaeggi's objections to Walzer's model of internal critique are in many respects inconsistent, and above all that these objections are a sign of a political deficit in the neo-Hegelian methodology adopted by Jaeggi to develop her model of immanent critique. The same deficit concerns Jaeggi's use of Marx's model of the critique of ideology, which can be fruitfully reworked by Walzer's reinterpretation of Gramsci's …
Immanent teleologies versus historical regressions: Some political remarks on Honneth’s Hegelianism
The article is focused on Honneth’s teleology of history, presented as a historical process of gradual realization of an immanent normative ‘telos’, and not only as a form of axiological evaluation of events and social institutions. The author aims to show that this teleology implies a series of problems both on the level of historical analysis and with respect to the theoretical-political and critical-social outcomes of the new Hegelian critical…
Emotionen als Motivationsbasis der Sozialkämpfe. Über Axel Honneth und Barrington Moore Jr
The paper starts from the thesis that in social reality every experiences of injustice of single individuals or social groups always has an emotional dimension, and that it can be interpreted as a breach of the normative unwritten social contract of a specific society in a certain historical period. This thesis is analysed within Barrington Moore Jr.'s theoretical framework, and then discussed in the light of Honneth's theory of disrespect as the…
Rivolte mancate.
Tale teoria viene quindi problematizzata, soprattutto attrave…
Foucault’s Darwinian Genealogy
This paper outlines Darwin’s theory of descent with modification in order to show that it is genealogical in a narrow sense, and that from this point of view, it can be understood as one of the basic models and sources—also indirectly via Nietzsche—of Foucault’s conception of genealogy. Therefore, this essay aims to overcome the impression of a strong opposition to Darwin that arises from Foucault’s critique of the “evolutionistic” research of “o…
Forme di vita e capitalismo
Come dovremmo vivere?
