Radiocarbon Chronology of Paso Otero 1 in the Pampean Region of Argentina
Paso Otero 1, in the Pampas of Argentina, is a stratified, riverine site containing alluvium with a sequence of buried A-horizons and two guanaco bone beds. The site is the first-recorded guanaco kill/butchering locale for the Pampas and represents at least two events during different times. Bulk organic sediment samples were taken from the three buried A-horizons and the humates assayed to produce a chronology for the site and date the cultural …
Geoarchaeology and taphonomy: Deciphering site formation processes for late Holocene archaeological settings in the eastern Pampa-Patagonian transition, Argentina
Human corpse manipulation and the body as symbol: A case study from the Eastern Pampa–Patagonia transition (Argentina) during the Final Late Holocene
Paleoenvironments and faunal extinctions: Analysis of the archaeological assemblages at the Paso Otero locality (Argentina) during the Late Pleistocene–Early Holocene
Isotopic ecology and human palaeodiets in the lower basin of the Colorado River, Buenos Aires province, Argentina
Results of stable isotope analyses are presented for the study of human subsistence in the lower basin of the Colorado River, Buenos Aires province, Argentina. This paper provides the most current state of knowledge concerning isotopic research in the study area, which in turn sheds new light on such a significant region as the Pampa-Patagonia transitional zone, spatially related to the Atlantic coast. In addition, information from the middle bas…
