Bone and Horn Products From the Excavations of the Tetyushi–ii Hillfort in Tatarstan
The article summarizes the materials related to bone and horn products from the excavations of the Tetyushi-II hillfort. It was studied in 2007–2013 by K.A. Rudenko. The site has good stratigraphy, which allows dating these finds based on these data. The lower deposits of the cultural layer were formed in the Late Bronze Age — the beginning of the Early Iron Age. The article deals with the metal mirrors, found in the Volga Bolgaria and the Bolgar region of the Golden Horde. They are kept in the funds of Tatarstan museums and personal collections. 778 pieces of metal mirrors have been studied. The article deals with clay spindle whorls, special weights for spindles, necessary for spinning threads from various materials — wool, vegetable fibers (nettle, flax). We describe artifacts from a medieval cemetery near the village of Lyulikary, in the Berezovsky District of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug–Yugra. The village was first mentioned in the 14th to 15th centuries, when it was a major trade center on the route from Russia to Siberia. The article is devoted to the study of gold filigree pendants with a miniature figure of a bird from the Volga Bulgaria. There are not many of them. In total, sixteen such artifacts are kept in museums of the Russian Federation and in private collections of pendants with a bird figurine. The article presents the results of the paleoanthropological researche of one of the burial places of the Tetushi IV burial ground.
