    Open Access•L F Nedashkovsky, М Д Кочанова et al.•ARTICLE•Vestnik Volgogradskogo…•2023

Introduction. The article considers archaeobotanical data obtained as a result of the analysis of plant macro- and microremains from the settlements of the Golden Horde epoch in the central part of the Saratov Volga region. Methods and materials. The results of the analyses of flotation samples allow us to obtain data on the plant food of the settled population. • Palynological Studies of Bronze Age Archaeological Objects From the Ishkinovka Mining Site

  • The Gechepsin Fortified Settlement

Burial ground horizons dating as far back as the 6th–2nd centuries BC and the cultural layers associated with settlements dated to the Late Bronze (?) Age, the Classical Antiquity, and the Middle Ages, have been identified during a multidisciplinary study of sediments exposed by trenching at the entrance of Lobanova Shchel (Lobanova Gorge), near a burial ground of the 6th–2nd centuries BC. The study has provided insights into general regularities…

  • Thirty thousand-year-old evidence of plant food processing

Open Access•Anna Revedin, Biancamaria Aranguren et al.•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the National…•2010

European Paleolithic subsistence is assumed to have been largely based on animal protein and fat, whereas evidence for plant consumption is rare. We present evidence of starch grains from various wild plants on the surfaces of grinding tools at the sites of Bilancino II (Italy), Kostenki 16–Uglyanka (Russia), and Pavlov VI (Czech Republic). The samples originate from a variety of geographical and environmental contexts, ranging from northeastern …
