    This was an exploratory phenomenological study regarding experiences and perceptions about bullying among African American male adolescents (AAMAs) and their parents. The sample for this study included 16 AAMAs and 16 parents (one AAMA and one matched parent per family; N = 32).     The purpose of this exploratory study was to explore the multiple contexts of vulnerability, drug use and parenting for women in substance abuse treatment. Nineteen purposively sampled women provided qualitative data through semi-structured interviews.     Maternal mortality is a serious problem faced by developing countries and has been identified as a key millennium development goal. This paper empirically tested the efficacy of Amartya Sen's human development perspectives to combat maternal mortality. Path analysis was used to test the empirical model.
