  • Child BMI trajectories

    Open Access•Marie‐françoise Rolland‐cachera, Marie-Françoise Rolland-Cachera•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2024

  • Prevalence of syphilis and risk factors among HIV-positive men who have sex with men in Guangdong province

Open Access•Marie‐françoise Rolland‐cachera, Peizhen Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

The prevalence of syphilis and other STDs is relatively high among HIV-positive MSM in southern China. Routine syphilis screening as a part of HIV monitoring among HIV-positive MSM will have important epidemiological significance for the management of infected patients, and can help reduce the spread of syphilis

  • Nutrient Intakes in Early Life and Risk of Obesity

    Open Access•Marie‐françoise Rolland‐cachera, Marie Rolland-Cachera et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2016

There is increasing evidence that environmental factors in early life predict later health. The early adiposity rebound recorded in most obese subjects suggests that factors promoting body fat development have operated in the first years of life. Birth weight, growth velocity and body mass index (BMI) trajectories seem to be highly sensitive to the environmental conditions present during pregnancy and in early life ("The first 1000 days"). Partic…

  • Which BMI standards to use in practice

    Open Access•Marie‐françoise Rolland‐cachera•ARTICLE•Public Health Nutrition•2012

Aim: Children and adolescents who are overweight (.BMI 85th percentile, which includes obesity) are a heterogeneous group and differ on dimensions measuring dietary restraint and psychopathology. In samples of clinical obese young adolescents we found that classifying children and adolescents based on psychological characteristics can be useful in making differential prognoses

  • Prevalence of overweight and obesity in elementary-school children from the Belgian province of Liege

    Open Access•Marie‐françoise Rolland‐cachera, M Deheeger et al.•ARTICLE•Public Health Nutrition•2012

BMI cut-off for 958 and 998 centile were used for defining obesity and severe obesity, respectively

  • Overweight and thinness in 7-9 year old children from Florianópolis, Southern Brazil

    Open Access•Maria Alice Altenburg De Assis, Marie‐françoise Rolland‐cachera et al.•ARTICLE•Revista de Nutrição•2006

OBJECTIVE: To assess nutritional status based on weight and height variables in children aged 7-9-y-old in a city from the South of Brazil (Florianópolis) and to compare the prevalence of thinness and overweight and environmental factors between Brazil and France. METHODS: Randomly stratified samples of 7-9 y-old children (Florianópolis, n= 2.232; France, n= 1.582). Both studies followed the protocol recommended by the European Childhood Obesity …

  • Tracking the development of adiposity from one month of age to adulthood

    Open Access•Marie‐françoise Rolland‐cachera, Marie-Françoise Rolland-Cachera et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•1987

The development of adiposity was followed in 164 subjects from the age of one month to adulthood. The 25th and 75th centiles of the weight/height2 (W/H2) index were chosen as cut-off points to define the lean, medium and fat subjects at both one and 21 years of age. Only 42% of the children remained in their original category, that is 41% of the lean infants at one year stayed lean, 42% of the medium infants stayed medium and 41% of the fat infan…
