    The Job Descriptive Index (JDI) is a widely used facet measure of job satisfaction that has undergone several revisions since its first publication in 1969.     The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a new theoretically based measure that would assess the full range of religious coping methods, including potentially helpful and harmful religious expressions.     This study examined how religion is involved in achieving a sense of personal control in a situation that evokes feelings of distress and vulnerability.
