Unveiling Algorithmic Bias
Anti-discrimination is a crucial focus for researchers, policymakers and designers of technical systems. Leveraging insights from AI fairness and inclusion studies, we examine algorithmic bias and its tendency to perpetuate discrimination (Selbst et al., 2019, Fairness and abstraction in sociotechnical systems , pp. 59–68) through two case studies: one in a gaming environment and another on a dating platform. The impact of civil commitment laws for substance use disorder on opioid overdose deaths

Recent enactment of CC SUD law(s), a lack of a central database for recording relapse rates, and disparities in opioid overdose rate reductions uncovers multiple variables potentially influencing OODR. Thus, furthe…
Retrospective assessment of the patients with disseminated tuberculosis
Background: Disseminated tuberculosis (TB) is defined as the presence of two or more noncontiguous sites resulting from hematogenous dissemination of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, occurring as a result of progressive primary infection, reactivation of a latent focus with subsequent spread, or rarely through iatrogenic origin. Hence; the present study was undertaken for assessing the patients with disseminated tuberculosis. Materials & methods: A to…
