Reproducibility of physical activity recall over fifteen years
PA recall from the distant past is moderately reproducible, but poor at the individual level, among young and middle aged adults
Deriving clinically meaningful cut-scores for fatigue in a cohort of breast cancer survivors
Language Use and Adherence to Multiple Cancer Preventive Health Behaviors Among Hispanics
Beyond Recreational Physical Activity
Objectives. We prospectively examined nonrecreational physical activity and sedentary behavior in relation to breast cancer risk among 97 039 postmenopausal women in the National Institutes of Health–AARP Diet and Health Study. Methods. We identified 2866 invasive and 570 in situ breast cancer cases recorded between 1996 and 2003 and used Cox proportional hazards regression to estimate multivariate relative risks (RRs) and 95% confidence interval…
Posttraumatic Growth and Health-related Quality of Life in a Racially Diverse Cohort of Breast Cancer Survivors
This study examined the relationship between race, religiosity, and posttraumatic growth as well as the association between growth and physical and mental health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in breast cancer survivors ( N = 802; M age = 57.2). Overweight, Obesity, and Mortality in a Large Prospective Cohort of Persons 50 to 71 Years Old
BACKGROUND: Obesity, defined by a body-mass index (BMI) (the weight in kilograms divided by the square of the height in meters) of 30.0 or more, is associated with an increased risk of death, but the relation between overweight (a BMI of 25.0 to 29.9) and the risk of death has been questioned. METHODS: We prospectively examined BMI in relation to the risk of death from any cause in 527,265 U.S. men and women in the National Institutes of Health-A…
Food Intakes of US Children and Adolescents Compared With Recommendations
Objectives. To determine the proportion of youth meeting national recommendations for food group intake and to identify food intake patterns. Design. The US Department of Agriculture's 1989–1991 Continuing Surveys of Food Intakes by Individuals were used to estimate food intake. Intake was determined from 3 days of diet by disaggregating foods into their component ingredients and using weights that correspond to servings. Participants. The sample…
