  • Long shadows: A prospective study of predictors of relationship dissolution over 17 child-rearing years

Open Access•Maren Sand Helland, Tilmann Von Soest et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Psychology•2014

Predictors of dissolutions over the next 17 years could be identified among mothers of toddlers. Different predictors were associated with early and late dissolutions, indicating different cascades

  • Trajectories of maternal symptoms of depression and anxiety over 13 years: The influence of stress, social support, and maternal temperament

Open Access•Anni Skipstein, Harald Janson et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2012

This study indicates that factors present early in the child rearing phase may provide substantial prediction of the variance in maternal symptoms of depression and anxiety over the following 13 years. Temperamental distress and child related stressors were the strongest predictors of membership in different depression and anxiety symptom trajectory groups

  • Trajectories of maternal symptoms of anxiety and depression. A 13-year longitudinal study of a population-based sample

Open Access•Anni Skipstein, Harald Janson et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2010

The study shows socio-demographic differences between mothers classified into six trajectory groups based on symptoms of anxiety and depression covering 13 years of the child-rearing period. Specific socio-demographic risk factors characterised mothers in the High-chronic symptom group. Identifying subgroups with enduring problems might inform more targeted preventive efforts

  • Predictors and pathways from infancy to symptoms of anxiety and depression in early adolescence

Evalill Karevold, Espen Roysamb et al.•ARTICLE•Developmental Psychology•2009•Cited by: 12

Data from a prospective 11-year longitudinal survey were used to identify early predictors and pathways to symptoms of anxiety and depression at 12-13 years of age, and to examine whether there were unique predictors of anxious versus depressive symptoms. Structural equation modeling was used to explore longitudinal relations between contextual (maternal distress, family adversities, and social support) and temperamental (shyness and emotionality…

  • Temperament profiles from infancy to middle childhood: Development and associations with behavior problems

    Harald Janson, Kristin S Mathiesen•ARTICLE•Developmental Psychology•2008•Cited by: 8•References: 3

The authors applied I-States as Objects Analysis (ISOA), a recently proposed person-oriented analytic approach, to the study of temperament development in 921 Norwegian children from a population-based sample. A 5-profile classification based on cluster analysis of standardized mother reports of activity, sociability, emotionality, and shyness at ages 18 months, 30 months, 4-5 years, and 8-9 years was interpretable and highly replicable. The prev…
