  • Memorable messages, perceived message deficiencies, and advice from estranged queer adolescents

    This study explores the intersection of education and family socialization through memorable messages reported by adolescents who are estranged from their parents because of their queer identity (estranged queer adolescents [EQAs)]).   • Overcoming Obstacles by Enacting Resilience: How Queer Adolescents Respond to Being Estranged From Their Parents

    Queer adolescents experience compounding complications especially when they are estranged from their parents. Findings from a sample of 40 estranged queer adolescents revealed four triggers, five resilience processes, and three co-occurring relationships between the triggers and processes.     The purpose of this investigation was to examine the role that commitment plays in emerging adult sibling relationships. In the first study, 148 participants provided 436 examples of how they showed sibling commitment that were coded into 11 behavioral indicators of commitment.
