Cultural and Transnational Influences on the Use of Information Communication Technologies in Adult Long-Distance Family Relationships
Geographically dispersed family members utilize frequent and diverse modes of communication to maintain their relationships. This article is a content analysis of four newspapers' coverage of management and organized labor during a two-year period when General Motors was deliberating whether to shut down its Willow Run, Ypsilanti, Michigan, or its Arlington, Texas, assembly plant. This research investigated portrayals of Muslims in the media, drawing upon an analysis of articles appearing in the Times of London, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times and The Detroit Free Press from 1988 to 1992. The research examined the types of stories that were written about Muslims, how Muslims were characterized, and the overall tone of stories. The changing media in the USSR
A study examined the changes taking place in the Soviet press and readers' attitude to the media in the age of glasnost. A suri,ey, prepared in English and translated into Russian, was conducted among 96 fourth and final year journalism students at the Leningrad State University, U.S.S.R. to obtain information concerning demographics, readership frequency and sources, and readership of foreign news.
