  • Comparative neuroprotective effects of antidiabetic medications on Parkinson's disease risk

Open Access•Soo Hyun Lee, Soo Hyeon Lee et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2026

Background: Diabetes mellitus is recognised as a risk factor for Parkinson's disease (PD); however, comparative evidence regarding PD risk across antidiabetic drug classes remains limited and inconsistent. We aimed to compare the risk of PD across different antidiabetic classes, with stratified analyses by age, sex, and cardiovascular disease (CVD) status. Methods: We searched the Cochrane Library, Embase, and PubMed until August 2025 for studies…

  • Comparative risk of psychiatric comorbidities associated with codeine and tramadol in patients with hip osteoarthritis

Open Access•Yujin Kim, Eunjung Choo et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2026

Background: Weak opioids are often prescribed for osteoarthritis (OA), yet their comparative psychiatric risks are not well established. We aimed to comprehensively compare the composite psychiatric risks associated with codeine and tramadol in patients diagnosed with hip OA. Methods: We conducted a nationwide, population-based retrospective cohort study, using Korean Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service database on patients diagnosed w…

    Open Access•Taisik Hwang, Sooyoung Shin•ARTICLE•Social Sciences•2026

This study examined how Twitter/X users engaged in the political discourse on the Sewol ferry accident in South Korea. A comparison of the number of links across politically homogeneous clusters with the number of links across heterogeneous clusters revealed that selective exposure occurred on the Twitter topic network. Findings also showed …

Open Access•Sooyoung Shin, Suhyeon Moon et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2024

  • A nationwide pharmacovigilance investigation on trends and seriousness of adverse events induced by anti-obesity medication

Open Access•Yeo Jin Choi, Chang-Young Choi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2023

Introduction: Despite rising concerns regarding the safety of anti-obesity medications, there is a lack of comprehensive pharmacovigilance investigations utilising real-world data. We aimed to characterise the prevalence and seriousness of adverse drug events (ADEs) related to anti-obesity medications and to identify predictors associated with increased risk of serious adverse events (SAE), thereby conveying evidence on drug safety. Methods: We c…

  • Toward In-Depth Coverage

    Open Access•Rachel R Mourão, Soo Young Shin et al.•ARTICLE•Journalism & Mass Communication…•2021

This article details a case study testing the effectiveness of a new curriculum for undergraduate public affairs reporting. Our intervention focused on restructuring an undergraduate reporting class to focus on a single issue (schools) and introduce mapping and video, whereas control groups used the old curriculum that was print-heavy and had no specific focus. Findings revealed that the new model helped students engage with communities at a deep…

  • Political Journalism and Democracy

    J David Wolfgang, Tim P Vos et al.•ARTICLE•Journalism Studies•2021•Cited by: 8•References: 14

Journalists express support for providing a diversity of viewpoints in their reporting, but how is this reflected in their content? This study compared survey results of U.S. political journalists’ statements with a content analysis of their reporting. There was limited support for journalists reflecting a diversity of viewpoints in their reporting, but only for those who support civic or direct models of democracy. Most journalists, however, rel…
