Reclaiming disabled creativity
The field of creativity studies underrepresents—even excludes—creators who have disabilities. The underrepresentation partly reflects an approach that pathologizes disability. Disability as a pathology or marker of ineligibility makes the contributions of people with disabilities invisible or illegible to creativity research. However, disability operates as a marker of membership in a larger disability culture. Considering disability and creativi…
A proposed systems model for socializing the graduate writer
Although researchers chorus the need to support graduate students toward higher levels of writing proficiency, their findings lack a holistic model for doing so. A model emerges upon scrutiny of the factors that have been implicated in supporting writing proficiency. In the proposed model, a socialization theory fits as a proximal process into the bioecological model and clarifies how graduate writers do or do not achieve and sustain proficiency …

Long Term Unemployment, Hysteresis and the Unemployment–Vacancy Relationship
JONES D. R. and MANNING D. N. (1992) Long term unemployment, hysteresis and the unemployment–vacancy relationship: a regional analysis, Reg. Studies 26, 17–29. In this paper we investigate the unemployment–vacancy (UV) relationship in the ten standard regions of Great Britain. The Unemployment‐vacancy Relation in the Uk
In this paper, a steady-state unemployment-vacancy relation for the United Kingdom is estimated using quarterly data over the period 1963-87. The specification derived is a simple job-matching scheme, which is compatible with earlier practice. However, there are two important departures. Firstly, a linear parameterization of the unemployment exponent is deployed as a "correction factor" for the hypothesized presence of noncompeting groups in the …

United Kingdom manpower policy against a background of national economic decline
Chakravarty S. P., Jones D. R. and MacKay R. R. (1983) United Kingdom manpower policy against a background of national economic decline: the Welsh example, Reg. Studies 17, 91–104. Economic policy has been strongly influenced by a theory which emphasises that only one rate of unemployment is consistent with price stability, claims that unemployment is either temporary, or voluntary and stresses that lasting reductions in unemployment depend on se…

It describes the impossibility of reform and the escalation in the level of conflict, arms race, and external support. Using sipri's extensive 'registers' it points to South Africa's regional military dominance but also notes the ecological limitations on the exercise of power. Its empirical analysis sugge…
NHS resources
The dangers inherent in comparing measures of health service provision and usage at high levels of aggregation and of ignoring variations at lower levels are illustrated with particular reference to regional and subregional level in the NHS. Analysis of variance indicates that, for a wide range of variables, there is more variation at the subregional level than regional level

Children using this diacritical marking medium were compared with matched children using orthodox versions of the books by means of the Burt Word Reading Test and the Schonell Spelling Test (Form B). It was found that children who used this medium were superior in reading not only in their own medium …
