    This qualitative field study examines the major educational and training programs in journalism in Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia and difficulties posed by the political, legal and media structural factors in the application of professional skills acquired through journalism education.     This article, based on observational research in Taiwan in 1994, focuses on the postmartial law media boom on the island. The study notes that newspapers, magazines, and satellite and cable television have experienced tremendous growth in the past six years.
