  • Artist-Run Space as a Symbolic Interaction in the Art World of Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Open Access•Nadiyah Tunnikmah, Budi Irawanto et al.•ARTICLE•International Society for the…•2023

Yogyakarta, Indonesia, has a dynamic art scene with thirty exhibition spaces where sixty-five exhibitions are held annually. Almost twenty of them are owned by artists, usually referred to as artist-run spaces. The art world's dynamics are shaped by the interactions within it, involving traditions, innovations, collective actions, and individual expressions, deeply rooted in symbolic interactions. This paper examines how Artist-Run Space as Symbo…

  • Whose story is it? Mental health consumer and carer views on carer participation in research

    Open Access•Alyssa R Morse, Owen Forbes et al.•ARTICLE•Health Expectations•2021

BACKGROUND: Mental health carers contribute a unique set of perspectives and lived experiences to research; however, national research ethics guidelines do not specifically address the issues that affect informal carers as participants. OBJECTIVE: This study sought to explore Australian mental health consumer and carer views on the ethical conduct of research involving mental health carers. DESIGN: A public forum (n = 14; consumer = 5, carer = 9)…

    Open Access•Aldo A Vasquez-Bonilla, Javier Brazo‐sayavera et al.•ARTICLE•Cultura Ciencia y Deporte•2021

The measurement of resting muscle oxygenation capacity is under investigation in team sports. The aim of the current study was to observe the changes after a preseason, in muscle oxygen saturation (SmO2) at rest and the relationship with body composition and jump power in soccer players. 17 soccer players (age 21.8 ± 2.2 years) were enrolled. Body composition, somatotype, countermovement jump (CMJ) and single-leg countermovement jump (SLCMJ) were…

  • Australian Mental Health Consumer and Carer Perspectives on Ethics in Adult Mental Health Research

Open Access•Alyssa R Morse, Owen Forbes et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Empirical Research on…•2019•Cited by: 1•References: 2

Barriers to research arise when national ethical guidelines governing the inclusion of consumers in mental health research are implemented at the local level. Equivalent guidelines for research involving carers are not available. A social science investigation of Australian mental health consumer and carer perspectives on research ethics procedures was conducted in two interlinked stages: (a) a discussion forum with consumers, carers, and lived-e…

  • Labiaplasty and pornography: A Preliminary Investigation

    B Jones, Camille Nurka•ARTICLE•Porn Studies•2015•Cited by: 7•References: 4

Discussion about the increasing incidence of labiaplasty has given rise to the widely accepted theory that pornography consumption is the primary driver of this trend. No previous research has attempted to investigate the usefulness of this thesis in predicting genital dissatisfaction or openness to labiaplasty. Our study surveyed women, online and anonymously. There were 1083 participants from 25 countries (majority Australian). We found that wo…

  • Humphrey Jennings, the Left and the Experience of Modernity in mid twentieth-century Britain

B Jones, Ben Jone et al.•ARTICLE•History Workshop Journal•2013

This article considers how Humphrey Jennings sought to represent the experience of modernity. While this concern runs through his career, we focus here on the two works which represent the fullest exposition of his ideas. Pandaemonium was a project that Jennings began in the late 1930s and pursued until his death in 1950. Posthumously published, this book consisted of a montage of original sources which documented the ways in which industrializat…

  • Slum Clearance, Privatization and Residualization: The Practices and Politics of Council Housing in Mid-twentieth-century England

    B Jones, Ben Jone•ARTICLE•Twentieth Century British History•2010•Cited by: 8

This article contributes to a growing literature on working-class suburbanization by arguing that both the residualization and privatization of council housing need to be properly historicized. This case study of housing policy in the borough of Brighton demonstrates that council house sales between the 1950s and 1970s were important in the residualization of inter-war estates well before the 'right to buy' legislation of the 1980s. Concerns abou…

  • Cohesion as a Basic Bond in Groups

    Open Access•William E Piper, Myriam Marrache et al.•ARTICLE•Human Relations•1983•Cited by: 21•References: 14

Cohesion continues to remain a popular concept among group therapists and leaders of experientially based learning groups despite persistent confusion about its meaning. The present study provided an empirical basis for clarification of the concept of cohesion. Forty-five participants from nine experientially based learning groups provided self-report and behavioral data concerning a number of aspects of cohesion. Factor analyses of the self-repo…

  • Classifications of the elderly population

    Open Access•Ian T Jolliffe, B Jones et al.•ARTICLE•Ageing and Society•1982•Cited by: 2•References: 9

To the existing ways of categorizing elderly individuals we here add a reasonably objective approach using recent survey data and statistical methods of multivariate analysis. The groupings obtained have been surprisingly clear-cut, so that simple rules can be devised for discriminating between clusters. We suggest this analysis as a useful way of gleaning information about elderly people, information which may help in the efficient allocation of…

  • When Are Vision and Kinaesthesis Comparable

    Open Access•B Jones, B Max Jones•ARTICLE•British Journal of Psychology•1973

It has been frequently found that cross‐modal matching between vision and kinaesthesis is asymmetric such that the kinaesthetic—visual matching is more accurate than the reverse condition (e.g. Connolly & Jones, 1970; Millar, 1972). The present article points out that vision and ‘kinaesthesis’ should not always be regarded as equivalent sensory channels. It is shown that if kinaesthesis is taken as passive movement (the subject's relaxed arm was …
