Urban forest carbon storage and sequestration on the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau
Urban green space (UGS) in cold regions may have distinct carbon storage (CS) and sequestration (CSE) mechanisms due to low temperatures, low oxygen, and high radiation. This study focuses on Xining, the largest city on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Based on 215 field samples and quantified using i-Tree Eco, CS and CSE densities are 4.08 kg C m −2 and 0.69 kg C m −2 y −1 , respectively. A correlation analysis and the XGBoost-SHAP model were employed…

Quenching Fire with Water? Power Structures, Practice Paradigms, and Decision-Making Models of Water Diplomacy in the Jordan River Basin
Water diplomacy in the Jordan River Basin is a representative and emblematic example of global water diplomacy dilemmas. The outbreak of the latest Israeli-Palestinian conflict has significantly reshaped the context, agenda, and developmental trajectory of water diplomacy in the basin. Currently, the asymmetric power structure in water diplomacy has shaped divergent objectives and behavioural preferences among actors, thereby forming three distin…

Quasi-Experimental Analysis of Covid-19 Effects on Older Versus Younger Adults’ Travel Behavior
Using two months of secular cellphone traces from older adults in Shenzhen, China, this study applies an interrupted time-series quasi-experimental design to assess COVID-19’s effects on daily personal kilometers traveled across neighborhoods with varying built environments. Findings reveal that the First-Level Response and Closed-Off Community Management policies had a less pronounced impact on older adults, who experienced a slower decline in m…
Utilizing complex networks and multi-scale analysis for spatial coordination and regional integration
Exploring spatial complexity
Overlapping structures, often overlooked, are crucial in shaping comprehensive urban development and broader megaregional strategies. To address the gap, this study conducts the overlapping communities analysis in the Pearl River Delta (PRD), a megaregion in South China, using big geospatial data from 2018. A novel Overlapping Community Detection based on Density Peaks (OCDDP) is employed to generate multiple communities with diverse functions fo…
Efficiency and equality of the multimodal travel between public transit and bike-sharing accounting for multiscale
The effectiveness of voluntary collective action in China's rural land development
China is gradually and directly making rural collective land available on the land market. It is important to understand how stakeholders collectively treat and manage this land, and if this collective action leads to effective and sustainable results. This paper, however, revises Ostrom's framework of collective action by constructing the joint analysis of social capital, trust, and cooperation performance, in order to better capture the distinc…
A Spatio-Temporal Cognitive Framework for Individual Route Choice in Outdoor Evacuation Scenarios
Route choice is a complex issue in simulating individual behaviors and reproducing collective phenomena during evacuations. A growing concern has been given to the individual cognitive mechanism to investigate how routing decisions are made in specific situations. However, the essential role of multiple spatio-temporal scales has not been completely considered in the current cognitive frameworks, which leads to the inaccuracy of cognition represe…
