  • Mittelneolithische Kreisgrabenanlagen in Niederösterreich: Geophysikalisch-archaologische Prospektion--ein interdisziplinäres Forschungsprojekt

Georg Zotti, Peter Melichar et al.•BOOK•Mittelneolithische Kreisgrabenanlag…•2010•Cited by: 9

  • Archaeological interpretation of combined magnetic and GPR surveys of the roman town Flavia Solva, Austria

Open Access•Wolfgang Neubauer, Sirri Seren et al.•ARTICLE•ArchéoSciences•2009

The Roman Town Flavia Solva The Roman town Flavia Solva in the Roman province Noricum (Styria, Austria) shows a rectangular street system known from aerial archaeology and excavations. Flavia Solva was founded in the early 1st century AD as a dwelling of local Late Iron Age people in the Roman province of Noricum. It already got the status of a Roman municpium around 70 AD under the Emperor Titus Flavius Vespasianus (69-79 AD). The name of the to…

  • Georadar in the Roman civil town Carnuntum, Austria: An approach for archaeological interpretation of GPR data

    Open Access•Wolfgang Neubauer, Alois Hinterleitner et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological Prospection•2002•Cited by: 31•References: 3

The case study presented is a prime example of integrated geophysical–archaeological prospection. The aerial photographs available are complemented by non‐destructive geomagnetic and geoelectric surveys with a reading distance of 0.5 m or less. To gain depth information and provide higher resolution, ground‐penetrating radar (GPR) data are integrated. The GPR data were collected in a 0.5 × 0.05 m raster and visualized as black‐and‐white time or d…

  • Restoring magnetic anomalies

    Open Access•Alois Hinterleitner, A Eder-Hinterleitner et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological Prospection•1996

A caesium magnetometer attached to a handcart enables accurate magnetic prospection of large areas within short times. The roughness of the earth's surface, minor differences in handling the handcart and a lot of other reasons are possible sources for various errors during a survey. Standard image preprocessing methods, such as median or low-pass filtering, remove not only errors but also important information and deform the shape of magnetic ano…
