Il presente contributo offre un riesame delle fonti su cui si basa la ricostruzione della formazione della res privata nell’età dei Severi (193-235). Si discute come il convergere di fonti disparate verso una narrazione univoca sembri semplificare eccessivamente un quadro altrimenti meno lineare.
