Open Access•Cécilia Bobée, Sylvain Huon et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2011•Cited by: 2•References: 52

Urban water was supplied to the Roman city of Forum Julii (Fréjus, southeastern France) for at least 200 years by a 39.4 km long aqueduct, operating in ad 50. Two perennial springs were successively collected, the Foux and the Siagnole, located at the outlet of Triassic and Jurassic karstic reservoirs, respectively. In this study, we performed high‐resolution PIXE (Particle‐Induced X‐ray Emission) measurements of Ca, Si, Fe and Sr concentrations …

Jacques Berato, Marc Borreani et al.•ARTICLE•Documents d Archéologie Méridionale•1995•Cited by: 2

The geographic area of the Permian depression, the Massif des Maures and the Estérel is heterogeneous. During the Iron Age human implantation basically corresponds to local circumstances. The fortified hill-top habitat remains the principal dwelling place and is no longer occupied after the years 30/20 B. C. It has never been possible to study the internal arrangement of this habitat exhaustively. Non-fortified hill-top habitats are rare. The set…

  • Les thermes du port à Fréjus (Var)

Chérine Gébara, Isabelle Béraud•ARTICLE•Revue archéologique de Narbonnaise•1990

Construction of new facilities carried out in the Moulins Road in Fréjus in 1987 led to salvage excavations. The structures discovered then are part of large thermal baths, partly discovered by Charles Texier in 1828 and known as the "Porte d'Orée". This monument dated from the 2nd. century and built alongside the ancient harbour seems, according to its dimensions, to be one of the most significant of its kind in the Gaule Narbonnaise area

  • Un enclos funéraire gallo-romain à Bagnols-en-Forêt (Var)

Isabelle Béraud, Jean‐pierre Brun et al.•ARTICLE•Revue archéologique de Narbonnaise•1986

Construction work carried out in the locality known as La Bégude in the district of Bagnols-en-Forêt has revealed the existence of a burial ground containing 5 cremations and inhumations. The enclosure, whih can be dated back to the second half of the first century A.D., is not associated with any particular site, but several villae have been identified in the vicinity

  • Lits funéraires de la nécropole gallo-romaine de Saint-Lambert (Fréjus)

Isabelle Béraud, Chérine Gébara•ARTICLE•Revue archéologique de Narbonnaise•1986•Cited by: 31

The Saint-Lambert necropolis extended to the east of the ancient Roman city, on both sides of a road identified as the Via Per Alpes Maritimas. It is bordered by by small, square mausoleums, sometimes set within enclosures. Other, simpler graves were placed in pits carved in the bedrock. Cremations were far more common than burials. This necropolis was used from the lst century B.C. to the 2nd century A.D. Three cremation sites contained the rema…
