  • ERA5-Land

Open Access•Joaquín Muñoz‐Sabater, Emanuel Dutra et al.•ARTICLE•Earth System Science Data•2021

Framed within the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) of the European Commission, the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) is producing an enhanced global dataset for the land component of the fifth generation of European ReAnalysis (ERA5), hereafter referred to as ERA5-Land. Once completed, the period covered will span from 1950 to the present, with continuous updates to support land monitoring applications. ERA5-Land d…

  • The ERA5 global reanalysis

Open Access•Hans Hersbach, Bill Bell et al.•ARTICLE•Quarterly Journal of the Royal…•2020

Within the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), ECMWF is producing the ERA5 reanalysis which, once completed, will embody a detailed record of the global atmosphere, land surface and ocean waves from 1950 onwards. This new reanalysis replaces the ERA‐Interim reanalysis (spanning 1979 onwards) which was started in 2006. ERA5 is based on the Integrated Forecasting System (IFS) Cy41r2 which was operational in 2016. ERA5 thus benefits from a deca…

  • Varying snow and vegetation signatures of surface albedo feedback on the Northern Hemisphere land warming

Open Access•Andrea Alessandri, Franco Catalano et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2020

Changes in snow and vegetation cover associated with global warming can modify surface albedo (the reflected amount of radiative energy from the sun), therefore modulating the rise of surface temperature that is primarily caused by anthropogenic greenhouse-gases emission. This introduces a series of potential feedbacks to regional warming with positive (negative) feedbacks enhancing (reducing) temperature increase by augmenting (decreasing) the a…

  • Energy, environment and sustainable development of the belt and road initiative

    Open Access•Renato Benintendi, Elena Merino-Gómez et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Futures•2020•Citada por: 3•Referencias: 6

The Belt and Road Initiative has tremendously increased the interaction of China with the countries involved, pushing forward the integration and comparative phase, based on the main factors affecting the energy, environmental and development scenarios. The indicators of this process are strictly related to the environmental sustainability of projects and infrastructural initiatives which entail aspects regarding climate change, environmental imp…

  • The ERA‐Interim reanalysis

    Open Access•Dick Dee, D P Dee et al.•ARTICLE•Quarterly Journal of the Royal…•2011

ERA‐Interim is the latest global atmospheric reanalysis produced by the European Centre for Medium‐Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). The ERA‐Interim project was conducted in part to prepare for a new atmospheric reanalysis to replace ERA‐40, which will extend back to the early part of the twentieth century. This article describes the forecast model, data assimilation method, and input datasets used to produce ERA‐Interim, and discusses the perform…
