The effect of stress on the risk of death from stroke
The purpose of this article is to describe the role of stress, here in the shape of the threat of unemployment, in making stroke (haemorrhagia and apoplexia cerebralis) a cause of death. This study is related to projects at the Institute of Public Health
Women's Economic Progress and the Demand for Housing
The focus of this paper is upon the effects of women's economic progress on housing demand. The theoretical segment of the paper hypothesises that women's empowerment brings about an increase in the demand for housing space in less affluent environments, while instead it has the opposite effect in more affluent settings. These hypotheses are tested and validated using Danish data. The complex demand function on which the empirical analyses are ba…
Microscopic age determination of human skeletons including an unknown but calculable variable
Histomorphometric semi‐automatic image analysis of cross‐sections of 101 femoral diaphyseal bone sections were performed to reconsider to what degree osteon remodelling in the outer cortex is affected by age. The data were analysed statistically using the generalized least squares method. The model estimation, which includes the covariance matrix of four single equation residuals, improves the accuracy of age determination. The standard deviation…
Price Profiles for Land in Danish Urban Areas
On the basis of assessment data on land prices in Danish city areas, a model showing land rent gradients approximated by a third degree polynomial is estimated for 48 individual Danish cities. The intra-urban structure is connected to an inter-urban model by the expansion method, where the coefficients of the individual towns are functions of town population size and town income level
