Craftsmanship and Manufacturing Techniques of Bone Bow‐End Plates From Pit 1 of the Qin Terracotta Army
This study examines 14 specimens of bone mi (bow‐end plates) excavated from Pit No. 1 of the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor. Multiple analytical methods were employed to investigate the raw material, manufacturing traces, and surface residues of the mi . Paleoproteomic analysis identified type I collagen peptides uniquely consistent with Cervidae (cervid) bone, demonstrating that the mi were specifically manufactured from cervid long bones. M…
First discovery of bone supports for quivers in china: Insights from nomadic populations at Jianjiapo cemetery (Xinjiang, China)
A scientific study of a Han ancient adhesive: First discovery of the use of cattle bone powder in pottery bonding
Investigating the composition and application of an ancient multipurpose material discovered on the Qin Terracotta Army statues
For the first time, the composition and application of a multipurpose material, which is widely used on the Qin Terracotta Army statues, was investigated as an important material during the statues' production. X‐ray fluorescence spectrometry, X‐ray diffraction spectrometry, polarizing microscopy and gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry were used in this study. The analyses revealed that this material consists of a protein binder containing anima…
