  • Teaching through grief, designing for care

Enas Aref, David Paul et al.•ARTICLE•Higher Education Research &…•2026

Grief and trauma are often marginalized in higher education, which prioritizes detachment and performance over care. Drawing on personal experience, critical grief pedagogy, and trauma-informed frameworks, this paper argues that grief can catalyze pedagogical transformation. Emotional vulnerability, rather than a weakness, fosters resilience, empathy, and deeper engagement. This paper critiques academic norms that stigmatize grief and proposes a …

  • Narratives of Injustice

    Paul Paul, Caplins Caplins•ARTICLE•Human Biology•2020•Referencias: 3

For over 50 years, the people of the Amskapi Piikani (Blackfeet) Nation have relayed information of "something bad" being covertly dumped within their remaining homelands. These stories, addressing contaminated waste and the locations of rumored dump sites, have also been linked with perceived cancer clusters among residents who live within the Blackfeet Nation. The concept of environmental injustice suggests that often the most vulnerable popula…

In 2016, while carrying out a campaign on a Dacian “tower-house” type structure identified in earlier years on the Cetățuie Hill in Ardeu, an atypical material was noticed on the inferior surface of a stone block sitting perpendic¬ular on the revetment. Its appearance, of different colour and texture compared to the stone block it was attached to, led us to immediately assume it could be mortar. Based on this working hypothesis a series of questi…

  • Plugging the Democracy Drain in the Struggle for Universal Access to Safe Drinking Water

Paul Paul•ARTICLE•Indiana Journal of Global Legal…•2013

Privatization of water delivery services has become a global trend as states seek ways to shift both political and economic costs to private actors. The advantage of privatization is that it relieves governments of the daunting expense of repairing and expanding water infrastructure in order to improve quality and reach marginalized communities. But water privatization has also been deeply criticized for corrupt practices, increasing prices to th…
