  • Revealing how information attributes of social media affect individuals' mental health during health crises: A person-environment fit perspective

Ting Pan, Xitong Guo et al.•ARTICLE•Internet Research•2026•References: 3

Purpose This study aims to investigate how two critical informational attributes of social media – uncertainty and equivocality – affect individuals' mental health, particularly pandemic fatigue, through the lens of person-environment fit (P-E fit) theory. Design/methodology/approach An online survey (N = 336) served as the basis for data collection, and structural equation modeling was employed for analysis. A mediation model was constructed to …

  • Case series: Chemical pneumonitis caused by exposure of sodium ibandronate powder

Open Access•Ting Pan, Guofeng Ma et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

This report presents two cases of chemical pneumonitis caused by the exposure of sodium ibandronate powder, a bisphosphonate used for treating osteoporosis. They are both pharmaceutical workers, and they inhaled the powder after an accidental spill in the lab. They developed similar symptoms, but different imaging features, only one showed fibrotic changes. After the blood test and bronchoscopy examination, they both diagnosed as chemical pneumon…

  • Depressive symptoms and Learning Motivation among Chinese freshmen: A longitudinal study using random intercept cross-lagged panel model and the subgroup analysis of parental educational background

Open Access•Ye Yu, Ting Yu et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2025

A stable negative correlation exists between depressive symptoms and LM among Chinese college freshmen: depressive symptoms consistently impair subsequent LM, while the protective effect of LM against depressive symptoms is phased, with subgroup differences in family educational background. These findings suggest that colleges and universities should prioritize early screening and intervention for freshmen's depressive symptoms to protect their L…

  • ABC-Training for Alcohol Use During a Voluntary Abstinence Challenge: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Open Access•Ting Pan, Veronica Szpak et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Mental…•2024

The current study aimed to test the effectiveness of ABC-training in influencing drinking behaviors during voluntary abstinence challenges, compared with Approach Bias Modification (ApBM) and sham-ApBM. We conducted two randomized controlled trial studies with three between-subject conditions: ABC-training, conventional ApBM, and sham-ApBM. Assessments were conducted at baseline, midtest, and posttest and at 2-week, 3-month, and 6-month follow-up…

  • Females with diabetes have a higher risk of ischemic stroke readmission: A retrospective cohort study

Open Access•Hua Meng, Ting Pan et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

Females with type 2 diabetes mellitus have a higher risk of ischemic stroke rehospitalization in both the short-term and long-term

  • Unraveling the impact of infodemic stress on information and health behaviors: A double effect perspective

Ting Pan, Yongqiang Sun et al.•ARTICLE•Internet Research•2024•References: 6

Purpose This paper aims to explore the underlying mechanism whereby information-induced stress, resulting from the burdensome nature, questionable information reliability, misleading content and diffuse characteristics of infodemic pressure, impacts individuals’ online information-related behavior and health-related preventive behavior. Design/methodology/approach We conducted a cross-sectional survey organized with social media users during the …

  • Understanding determinants of social networking service fatigue: An interpretive structural modeling approach

Open Access•Lin Xiao, Ting Pan et al.•ARTICLE•Information Technology and People•2022

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to build a comprehensive structural model to demonstrate the interrelationships of factors influencing social networking service (SNS) fatigue and to identify the varying degrees of influence. Design/methodology/approach A total of 14 factors influencing SNS fatigue are identified through an extensive literature review. Interpretive structural modeling (ISM) and Matrice d'Impacts Croisés Multiplication Appliqu…

  • Internal or External Word-of-Mouth (WOM), Why Do Patients Choose Doctors on Online Medical Services (OMSs) Single Platform in China

Open Access•Jiang Shen, Bang An et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

    (1) Background: Word-of-mouth (WOM) can influence patients' choice of doctors in online medical services (OMSs). Previous studies have explored the relationship between internal WOM in online healthcare communities (OHCs) and patients' choice of doctors. There is a lack of research on external WOM and position ranking in OMSs. (2) Methods: We develop an empirical model based on the data of 4435 doctors from a leading online healthcare community i…

Open Access•Jinbo He, Yang Zheng et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2019

Individuals with Internet gaming disorder (IGD) show deficits in face processing due to long-term Internet-game social activities based on cartoon faces in the popular online game "Strike of Kings." However, the abnormal neurocognitive mechanism of face recognition and processing in individuals with IGD has not been systematically explored. This study used event-related potential (ERP) methods and the reversed deviant-standard oddball paradigm to…
