  • Poverty Dynamics in Europe

    Open Access•Marc Callens, Christophe Croux•ARTICLE•International Sociology•2009•Cited by: 4•References: 32

This article uses multilevel recurrent discrete-time hazard analysis to simultaneously model the impact of life cycle events and structural processes on poverty entry and exit across European Regions. Research questions are, (1) what is the importance of life cycle events on the road to entry into and exit from poverty, (2) are there any differences in poverty dynamics between European Regions and if so, how can we explain these differences? The …

  • Depression and socio-economic risk factors

Open Access•Vincent Lorant, Christophe Croux et al.•ARTICLE•The British Journal of Psychiatry•2007

BACKGROUND: Low socio-economic status is associated with a higher prevalence of depression, but it is not yet known whether change in socio-economic status leads to a change in rates of depression. AIMS: To assess whether longitudinal change in socio-economic factors affects change of depression level. METHOD: In a prospective cohort study using the annual Belgian Household Panel Survey (1992-1999), depression was assessed using the Global Depres…

  • A Measure of Comovement for Economic Variables

Christophe Croux, Mario Forni et al.•ARTICLE•The Review of Economics and…•2001

This paper proposes a measure of dynamic comovement between (possibly many) time series and names it cohesion. The measure is defined in the frequency domain and is appropriate for processes that are costationary, possibly after suitable transformations. In the bivariate case, the measure reduces to dynamic correlation and is related, but not equal, to the well known quantities of coherence and coherency. Dynamic correlation on a frequency band e…
