  • Do Highways Induce Sprawl? Coming to Grips with the Land Use Impacts of Road Projects

Uri Avin, Rolf Moeckel et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of the American Planning…•2025•References: 16

  • Impact of autonomous vehicles on household relocation: An agent-based simulation

Open Access•Carlos Llorca, Ana Moreno et al.•ARTICLE•Cities•2022•References: 14

The agent-based land use/transport model SILO/MITO/MATSim is adapted to simulate the impact of AVs on household relocation. The revised model accounts for the fact that households who own conventional cars are sensitive to parking availability at their dwelling. As AVs could park themselves anywhere, this sensitivity to parking is reduced for households who own AVs. Distance to work, which serves as a hard constraint for household relocation with…

  • Agent-Based Simulation of Long-Distance Travel: Strategies to Reduce CO2 Emissions from Passenger Aviation

Open Access•Alona Pukhova, Ana Tsui Moreno et al.•ARTICLE•Urban Planning•2021

Every sector needs to minimize GHG emissions to limit climate change. Emissions from transport, however, have remained mostly unchanged over the past thirty years. In particular, air travel for short-haul flights is a significant contributor to transport emissions. This article identifies factors that influence the demand for domestic air travel. An agent-based model was implemented for domestic travel in Germany to test policies that could be im…

  • Impact of bicycle highways on commuter mode choice: A scenario analysis

Open Access•Hema Rayaprolu, Carlos Llorca et al.•ARTICLE•Environment and Planning B Urban…•2020

The Dutch concept of ‘bicycle highways’ is increasingly being adopted by urban planners owing to rising environmental and health consciousness, and the growing popularity of electric bicycles. Bicycle highways differ from other types of cycling infrastructure in that they avoid intersections with motorised traffic, and are wide enough to allow for safe overtaking, thereby increasing cycling speeds. While many studies investigate the feasibility o…
