  • Late-Holocene wildfire record from the Stagmo peat section, Leh valley, NW Himalaya

    Open Access•Sumit Sagwal, Dipanwita Sengupta et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2023•References: 10

Wildfire is an integral component of the terrestrial ecosystem that plays a significant role in regulating the vegetation cover. The paleofire records stored in lacustrine, peat, or marine sedimentary deposits along with environmental proxy records provide temporal information on fire activity and contemporary climatic conditions on a regional scale. A ~2.8m long peat sedimentary profile from Stagmo, Indus Valley, Ladakh Himalaya was examined for…

  • A new chronology based on OSL and radiocarbon dating for the archaeological settlements of Vadnagar (western India) along with magnetic and isotopic imprints of cultural sediments

Open Access•Rajesh Agnihotri, Nikhil Patel et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science…•2021•References: 8

  • High-resolution climatic (monsoonal) variability reconstructed from a continuous ~2700-year sediment record from Northwest Himalaya (Ladakh)

    Open Access•Choudhurimayum Pankaj Sharma, Suman Rawat et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2019•Cited by: 1•References: 8

A chronologically well-constrained sedimentary archive from Upshi (Ladakh) was studied using a multi-proxy approach namely palynology, environmental magnetism, total organic carbon (TOC), total nitrogen (TN), stable isotopes of carbon and nitrogen providing a continuous vegetation, and paleoenvironmental history spanning the last ~2700 years with a temporal resolution of ~43 years. Pollen assemblage shows non-arboreal pollen (NAP) and non-pollen …

  • A high-resolution micromorphological record of the Late Quaternary paleosols from Ganga–Yamuna interfluve

    Open Access•P Srivastava, M K Rajak et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2010

  • Recent archaeological research at Toteng, Botswana

Lawrence H Robbins, Alec C Campbell et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of African Archaeology•2008•Cited by: 10

This paper presents the first combined use of OSL and AMS dating to address the problem of the advent of livestock in southern Africa. Excavations at Toteng, at the eastern end of the Lake Ngami basin, have revealed bones of wetland and domesticated animals dating to around 2 ka. There is also Bambata pottery and microliths. Between 2.1–1.5 ka the lake level increased to ca 934 m asl but declined rapidly to less than 930 m asl by 1.2 ka. People l…
