  • Four millennia of vegetation and environmental history above the Hyrcanian forest, northern Iran

Open Access•Leila Homami Totmaj, Elias Ramezani et al.•ARTICLE•Vegetation History and…•2020•Referencias: 10

Past vegetation, fire, and climate dynamics, as well as human impact, have been reconstructed for the first time in the highlands of the Gilan province in the Alborz mountains (above the Hyrcanian forest) for the last 4,300 cal yrs bp . Multi-proxy analysis, including pollen, spores, non-pollen palynomorphs, charcoal, and geochemical analysis, has been applied to investigate the environmental changes at 2,280 m a.s.l., above the Hyrcanian forest.…

  • The Late-Holocene climate change, vegetation dynamics, lake-level changes and anthropogenic impacts in the Lake Urmia region, NW Iran

Open Access•Taravat Talebi, Elias Ramezani et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2016

  • Between the mountains and the sea

  • Notes on Arboricultural and Agricultural Practices in Ancient Iran based on New Pollen Evidence

Morteza Djamali, Naomi F Miller et al.•ARTICLE•Paléorient•2010•Citada por: 19•Referencias: 2

New pollen evidence from two sites in South-Central Zagros (Lake Maharlou), Southwestern Iran, and Sahand Mountains (Lake Almalou), Northwestern Iran, provide evidence for the emergence of tree cultivation in Southwestern Iran since the 3rd and 2nd millennia BC and upland agricultural activities in Northwestern Iran since 5th to 3rd centuries BC. Juglans cf. regia could have been cultivated firstly at ~ 2500 BC and became more extensively cultiva…

  • The late-Holocene vegetation history of the Central Caspian (Hyrcanian) forests of northern Iran

Open Access•Elias Ramezani, Mohammad Reza Marvie Mohadjer et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2008•Citada por: 3•Referencias: 2

Pollen analysis of the peat in a small mire on the northern slope of the Alborz Mountains (550 m a.s.l.) in the Central Caspian forests of Iran reveals changes in forest and wetland vegetation during the last millennium. A forest, principally of Alnus and Carpinus occurred over almost the whole period. Quercus, Ulmus and Parrotia were less common, while Fagus, Pterocarya, Acer and Diospyros fluctuated as a probable result of human interference an…
