If Racism is Self-Love, then What is Anti-Racism? in advance: A Reply to Silva’s Racism as Self-Love
This paper explores the implications of Grant Silva’s account of racism as self-love, particularly its implications for resisting racism and pursuing racial justice. I argue that the Rousseauian concept of amour-propre, or self-love, which Silva relies on, can take a positive form, allowing for the possibility of redirecting white self-interest toward anti-racist projects. This argument makes conceptual space for an anti-racist politics that is g…

Changes in the incidence of seasonal influenza in response to Covid-19 social distancing measures: An observational study based on Canada’s national influenza surveillance system

Globalizing Human Rights, Transforming Global Capitalism. A Review of David Ingram’s World Crisis and Underdevelopment: A Critical Theory of Poverty, Agency, and Coercion
Assessing Fit Quality and Testing for Misspecification in Binary-Dependent Variable Models
In this article, we present a technique and critical test statistic for assessing the fit of a binary-dependent variable model (e.g., a logit or probit). We examine how closely a model's predicted probabilities match the observed frequency of events in the data set, and whether these deviations are systematic or merely noise. Our technique allows researchers to detect problems with a model's specification that obscure substantive understanding of…
