  • Proto-Indian craniometric identity established in India by the middle Holocene

    Open Access•Pathmanathan Raghavan, D Bulbeck et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological Research in Asia•2021•References: 4

  • Growth of Trunk and Limb Diameters in Well-off NW Indian Children: Attained Means and Tempo Unconditional 1-Year Velocities

Open Access•G Pathmanathan, Suraj Prakash•ARTICLE•The Oriental Anthropologist A…•2003

  • Radiogrammetric Study of Width, Area of Cortex and Medullary Cavity of Long Bones of Macaca Mulatta From Juvenile to Adult Stages

    Open Access•G Pathmanathan, P A Ogendo et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•2002

The width, area of Cortex and Medullary cavity of the long bones measured on radiographs of various age group of 323 male and 376 female Macaca mulatta are presented in tables for Femur, Tibia, Humerus and Radius. The pattern emerging from the means in the Cortical bone dynamics is discussed. Generally, during the juvenile stages the mean Subperiosteal width and the mean Medullary width increase sharply from juvenile 1 to juvenile II stages. The …

  • Growth of fat and lean tissue components at the mid‐upper arm in well‐off North West Indian children

Open Access•G Pathmanathan, Suraj Prakash•ARTICLE•American Journal of Human Biology•1994

Attained means and standard deviations of the mid–upper arm fat cross‐sectional area (CSA) and M + B (lean) CSA estimated from the arm circumference and the triceps and biceps skinfolds are presented for 327 girls and 341 boys 6–16 years of age. Tempo unconditional 1‐year velocities of the two components were also calculated based on repeated measurements of 244 girls and 253 boys after a period of about 1 year. Although the attained mean total C…

  • Growth of sitting height, subischial leg length and weight in well-off northwestern Indian children

Open Access•G Pathmanathan, Suraj Prakash•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•1994

This paper reports attained means and tempo unconditional 1-year velocities of sitting height, subischial leg length and weight of well-off northwestern Indians based on two time measurements taken by the same measurer. A 3-year difference is observed in reaching the peak sitting height velocity between girls (11 years) and boys (14 years) as in their peak height velocity. While in girls the peak subischial leg length velocity is reached a year e…

  • Differences in adult height between well-off North-west Indians and britains as a product of lower height gain per unit bone maturity advance during the adolescent years

    Open Access•Suraj Prakash, G Pathmanathan•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•1992

Attained mean heights of well-off North-west Indian children showed close parity with British children up to 12 years in girls and 14 years in boys. Thereafter their attained means become less, resulting in shorter mean adult stature. Comparison of the tempo-unconditional single 1-year velocities of height showed that the total adolescent gain in both the populations was similar. The shorter mean adult height in well-off North-west Indians could …

  • Age at Menarche and Its Prediction in the Well off Northwest Indian Girls

    Open Access•Prakash, Suraj Prakash et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•1992•Cited by: 1•References: 1

The median age at menarche in well-off Northwest Indian girls from Chandigarh, 12.62 SD 1.02 years and its mean age 12.50 SD 1.15 years in a subsample (girls who were negative at the first and positive at the seeded examination) agree well with other Indian reports of menarcheal age in high socioeconomic group. But, this is lower than that of the London girls (13.00 years). Factors that control age at menarche are many, file anise for this low me…

  • Tempo-unconditional 1-year bone score velocities in well-off North-west Indian children

    Open Access•Suraj Prakash, G Pathmanathan•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•1991

Tempo-unconditional 1-year bone maturity score velocities in well-off 6-16 year-old North-west Indian children from Chandigarh (245 boys and 238 girls) are presented for the first time using the TW2 system. Rater's replicability/comparability was high. The peak RUS bone maturity score velocity is reached at 13 years in girls and at 15 years in boys, maintaining a standard 2-year difference. Velocities of the three bone maturity scores are relativ…

  • Single occasion means of height and weight of Sri Lankan Tamil children from Jaffna

Open Access•G Pathmanathan, Suraj Prakash et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•1990

Little published material is available on physical growth in any Sri Lankan population. This paper reports attained mean heights and weights of middle class Tamil children from Jaffna, based on single occasion measurements of 358 boys and 517 girls ranging in age between 6 and 17 years. The cross-sectional height and weight data of both boys and girls show a typical pattern. Boys are taller and heavier up to 9 years, then girls lead in both the m…
