Preface: #MeToo: Cri de Coeur and Cri de Corps (A Cry from the Heart and Body of a Woman)
#MeTooCri de Coeur and Cri de Corps (A Cry from the Heart and Body of a Woman) Kay Turner (bio) The international era of #MeToo brings powerful narratives of predatory behaviors, deception, abuse, and rape to the daily news across the West, especially in the United States where the movement, founded in 2006 by Tarana Burke, erupted in the fall of 2017, a year after the pussy-grabbing president was elected despite revelations of gross misconduct b…

The Oliver Bolton Collection of Dart and Spear Points from Camp County, Texas, and Other Remarks
This article analyzes the Bolton Collection of 1384 lithic artifacts, including dart and spear points from the Paleoindian through the Woodland periods. The analysis places the points in the sequence used by Perttula. The points are compared with those from the middle Sabine River basin counties as well as the analysis of the Archaic points of the Cypress Creek drainage basin. In addition, the Archaic and Woodland population density of Camp Count…
Seriality, Miscellaneity, and Compression in Nineteenth-Century Print
This article explores the relationship between seriality, miscellaneity, and compression in nineteenth-century print. They are als…

In recognition of the fiftieth anniversary of the 1967 African American uprising in Detroit, the author, who grew up there, used the workshop format to reflect with fairy-tale studies colleagues on her upbringing during those turbulent times. Our brief time together explored the author's personal experi…
At Home in the Realm of Enchantment: The Queer Enticements of the Grimms' “Frau Holle”
In the Grimms’ “Frau Holle” (ATU 480) enchantment figures as a temporally distinct realm, a place of encounter rich with potential for queer interpretation. The abused, young stepdaughter who falls down a well into Frau Holle’s vernal, excessively abundant realm benefits from the unusually tender and honest relationship that develops between her and the old woman who invites her company and service. No ordinary old lady, Holle is the powerful ava…
Recovering Carib Gold
In early December of 1955, in Key West, Florida, a small cast and crew began location shooting on a low-budget film under the leadership of producer Warren Coleman. Carib Gold (1956) was an independent production of the Splendora Film Corporation. It had a racially integrated cast, and it would be recognized as a small, black-and-white film with no gimmick to propel it to classic B-movie status. In an industry context of Hollywood extravaganzas a…
An Interview with Edith Turner

The original motivation for that project was to explore the life and writing of Edith Turner, her marriage to Victor Turner, and how the dynamics of gender and marriage affect the production of…
